Re: Your Claim To Fame
I have a couple of claims to fame. Some intentional, some otherwise, some still highly classified. Here's one that was unintentional.
1.) Inadvertently in last episode of Magnum PI. Worked at a photolab in Hawaii. Saw the StarWagons and the "Robin"series sequenced and license plated cars often seen in the show (i.e.: Magnum's Ferrari, Higgins' Jaguar, TC's VW Vanagon, etc... plus several "Robin" plated cars that I never saw in the series (Porsche 928, Excalibur, etc...)) on my way to work at Photo Finish Hawaii (1142 Bethel Street (Owners John and Pat Tomita)). Was doing quality control work (largely consisting of just flipping through the pictures looking for chemical or exposure issues) when suddenly Tom Selleck walks up to the big plate glass window and just smiles at us. I was something like 3 feet from him and it was the first of several times I encountered him during the several years that I in Honloulu. So like an idiot I just sat there mouth agape, flipping through photos, but looking at Tom. Same with my co-worker Marty. We actually made it to the on-air finale and we look like complete idiots. [For any Magnophiles out there it is the scene where Magnum is following a man following a woman that Magnum believes can lead him to find his daughter, Lily. but he is following her from across the street. She stops at a balloon vendor (like there is any such thing outside a zoo or amusement park in reality) and Magnum is watching her in the reflection of our plate glass window.] We looked like complete idiots and I got razzed pretty good by some of my Reserve buddies from the 100th Bn/442nd infantry at Ft. DeRussy. This was largely because I was an extra in three episodes of the first season of Tour of Duty, a Vietnam epic that was initially filmed in Hawaii.
SHORT! Only 5,673 days until retirement!
