Sums it well G. Everybody trying to keep up withe "Jones" & the ever spiralling technology. No sooner do we buy things & its obsolete so people got to have the latest.
I've personally try to instill in my kids about the benefits of buying only what you need. Sure have a few luxuries just don't over indulge.
Bugs me to see young people today with the attitude of "live for today to hell with tomorrow"
It will take a major shakeup to educate our new generations of the dangers of greed as thats what it is really.
I think most people understand the dangers but that little man in their head says "I want. I want, I want," a bit of mind over matter, purely psychological.
Why do we have to keep up with the "Jones"? Kids see their friends with "Adidas trainers costing Â.£160 so they got to have a pair cos they are "cool" & " everybody's wearing them. I'd rather thet bought a pair that was comfortable & will fit the requirements of their need not what other people think of them.
So we have two so called sins of society which are GREED & VANITY.
There are other "sins" of the mind which I'll not digress on in order to leave scope for other members to broach the subjects.
I'll put another tuppence worth in later & I'll expect some change.
