Demur in this kind of situation I don't think anyone has the right to tell you what not to do. Unless of course someone here has been in that predicament with the prognosis thats proved positive.
Whatever we are able to advise the final decision will always rest on your shoulders.
Personally I admire you for your tenacity & stamina. Above all that your courage to persevere & give this drug a trial. Yes its an option but you can see for yourself within a period of time if the drug is giving the desired results. If it does then that will be wonderful for all concerned. If not you can always explore other options.
I'm sure there are other specialists in this field who can give alternative suggestions should the need arise?
