IMO I wouldn't contemplate using Vista until its been out a while and only if I need a new machine. I certainly would not upgrade. It has some good points but at the moment too many negatives to even consider it.

As of yet I've not had the misfortune to repair anyone's computer who have Vista or indeed asked to have it put on their machine. After all the Microsoft hype I was expecting a lot more. Seems a lot tighter on security issues though.

Maybe later but at the moment I'm more than happy with XP and I've not had any real problems with it so I'm staying with it.
My thoughts exactly. My dad knew NOTHING of computers before he got this Vista one so ive set everything up best i can and im not majorly happy with it. Everyones TRYING to get THEIR programs running on it but a lot are failing miserably

XPs not perfect but its far quicker an Operating System and till everyones got their heads round Vista i aint even thinkin about it.

having said that. If anyone IS contemplating getting one in blighty ~ the dells are VERY good value for money

I suppose I could do that 30 or 40 times....

And half the time Vista can't find my printer. It shows it too me on the screen, but tells me it ain't there...

And that STILL wouldn't work, as I would have to have the same software on my desktop as I do on my notebook, which I do not.
I just meant for printing things. And yes Vista is like Mac OS and Mac has had some updates that make it look like the Vista IE the Right side tool bar with Calender, Pictures etc started with Vista. Again to date (about 5 months) I have had 0 problems with Vista.

Just one point, OSX has been out over 5 years and the desktop has not changed, nor
has file management. MS admits that the transparencies of certain icons and graphics
when being used by OSX they paid for the rights to use it from the same 3rd party Apple got it from.
The Apple browser Safari is indeed similar to the new IE, but I use Firefox. I am glad
Vista has served you well. My brother likes it about as much as G.

Well, after a few nightmares,

I actually like it, it has some good features, I have it as a Dual boot with Ubuntu and its well worth bearing with it for now,

Windows 7 is only around the corner too!

My dad has Vista ~ i really dont like it (And as theres a new op system out end of next year? im not buying one until unless my comp dies on me)
Anyways ~ as he knows nothing about computers ive had various problems with it
Latest was theres 4 diff log ons ~ if i change the screen resolution it changes for EVERYONE! WTF ~ how simple is that. No good like cos my dad cant see the small writing with his eyes.
Then my sister deleetd an icon off HER desktop and it dissapeared off everyones
I really dont like Vista. Also, it crashes ~ thought it wasnt supposed to do that?
Loads of other little niggles but i forgets most of em to be honest
