The Best Time of Year

I had to get a special roasting pan a few years ago for ones that big. It really is
a breeze. With double ovens Bread and rolls are baking in the upper and the roast
just sizzles away in the lower oven.

My wife would be in her element in a kitchen like that. We only have the standard cooker/oven. She would love a big kitchen with all the goods.

Mind you I'd end up being twice my size.

I've already ballooned since I quit smoking.

I plumped up after the cigs. Gained 70 pounds. Have lost 40 of that. Still going.

I plan to feast and plump up a few pounds this Xmas.

I cheated this weekend...I went out and got a pair of trousers with the waist half elasticated to accommodate the festivities.

My wife said she will get me some more if I like them. They seem ok to me and they are ever so comfy.

I get the impression you haven't read much about Tao, Wu-Wei OR my post... since you posted grievances using arguments that I actually supported...

If you NEED the holiday then God Bless ya, use it!!! I just think that you probably don't have finals this upcoming Summer and therefore don't need Christmas. You could have traveled around visiting your relatives last summer instead of going to New York. Just like Pooh did on Thursday.

And I guess I just don't see the Spirit of Christmas much. I guess I just notice the feelings that somehow make this time of the year the time when Suicide goes up 5 fold, along with Credit Card debt.

Selfishly, I suppose, I might get a bit of grinch in me, when I can't spend Christmas with my family because they will be visiting all their other relatives, yet I will work my two hardest weeks of the year following that day.

I've also WORKED several Christmas Holiday's defending a Nation that puts me to work on Veteran's Day, too!!

hmmm... maybe I should start a thread on wu-wei and explain some stuff...

nah... I got too much Christmas shopping left to do!!!!

G- though I see your points and understand them.....cut it out! Some of us love this time of year!!!!!!!

Really though, I get it, but some of us look at it differently. Sure, we should have Pooh's Thursday..and sometimes we do (big Sunday dinners...random celebrations) but in reality....random acts of celebration are hard to organize with everyone's schedules. I'm not saying it's right, but sometimes it is what it is. It's what makes this time of year special for me....I'm forced to make time for certain people. Should I have to be forced....NO...but...again, it is what it is.

The commercialism kills me as well...sometimes this time of year is the lonliest for me since my mother's death and my no one special to share the time with..but still I remain excited for this time of year.
