13 hours with inlaws????

WHY?
Due to a broken car I have to drive a set of in-laws in from 65 miles away and
they are celebrating Xmas as well.

Im thinking that's not gunna talk to your computer very quickly though!... The one I got was about the same price and from future shop and is 320Gb instead of a terbit . But it transfers data to and from my computer at a far faster rate, so I think I'll sick with it. If the rate at which the price of memory keeps dropping I'm sure we'll be laughing at anything under a TB in a few years though
It is very quick, I have a 1TB external on a Firewire 800 bus and it smokes.

The pocket drive is surprisingly quick, not like the FW 800. USB 2.0 is almost
half the speed of FW 800, but 80 MB/s faster than FW 400. We need more
firewire because I can daisy chain 15 FW devices in a row including things like
scanners and film imagers. The pocket drive is just backing up the last few
magazine runs at a time for easy portability to clients meetings.

Technology is moving way too fast to keep up with.

I'm just wondering if anyone here got something they weren't expecting for Christmas? A nice or ugly surprise?
You are right I just picked up name brand ram for the new Mac Pro tower. I got
4 gigs of very fast DDR2 Dual channel 667 mhz ram for $135.

I got a machine called a Tassimo for making coffee and tea. It also makes other things.
It was a total surprise. I am the only one that drinks coffee here and it makes one cup
hot and fresh on demand. I really love it.

This years Christmas at Wisecats house....

It started the day after thanksgiving when the ''REMODEL'' started.

Started by enclosing the carport to store my furniture from each room as I worked on them, then started on the oldest sons room. It got painted and a new window installed along with a new light, then to the 2 other sons room. They got new paint a light and 2 new windows.

Then I tore out the kitchen counter tops, then both bathroom counter top and installed new ones then put down new vinal flooring in the masterbath, new wallpaper, new light, blinds and alot of sub floor repair. We then painted the master bedroom and tore out the carpet and installed hardwood floors and trimed it out with new window treatments.

then to front the front bath where we installed new flooring and paint along with new light and mirrow then I did a ceramic backsplash on the counter top and also dropped back to the master bath and did ceramic backsplash. We then painted the living room and installed hardwood floors and then christmas rolled up on me and I took a day off.

I started back today... I still have to paint the hall and run the hardwood down it and thr dining room plua paint in the dining room, new vinal in the kithchen and laundry room with floor repair in the kitchen, ceramic backflash for the kitchen and then I get to rest again.

All the work has been done by me and my trusty wife who preformed like a trooper. Im not sure where December started and where christmas passed and this 40 year old body is hurting bad....

Wow that is a list. I was forty when we redid this place. It was brutal. Of all the stuff
I have to say I liked putting the hickory floors in the best. It was hell on my back and knees.

Christmas was a whirlwind... spent it in PA with Speedy and his family. In the morning, his parents, grandmother, Speedy, and I opened quite a few presents, and it seemed like everyone enjoyed it. Then that evening, Speedy's Mom made a big feast and the rest of the family showed up to exchange Secret Santa presents. It was a quick and long day at the same time. By the end of the night, I was just happy we'd all made it through! I think the best was the present Speedy's Dad got for his wife/Speedy's Mom... he got her a PT Cruiser convertible. It arrived with the rest of the family at dinner with a big red bow on the windshield.

Hope everyone had a great celebration this year. Mine was wonderful. I feel better after this Solstice than I have in a long time, and Christmas was a blast. Now I have to go get ready for a night of drunken gaming at a friend's New Years party. This past year I've had a lot of good and a lot of bad. Here's to hoping next year is more of the former and less of the latter, for myself and everyone! Happy holidays and happy new year to everyone!

So much for that idea. I have been awake since 4am with this damn headache. I am tired and tetchy so not a good start of the year....I need coffee.

Think I'll either nod off early today or I'll definitely be having a very early night.
