Default Ever feel like you were born at the wrong time?!?!

When I was younger I heard about the theory of relativity, and other physics ideas from my uncle. I was pleased, but also kinda depressed when he explained that some believe that life for a human, although far longer than say a fly, is still a lifetime, and in turn is the same length. Why? Because similar thoughts crossed my mind earlier in life long before I read it in some dusty text book

Recently I overheard friends talking about this idea that maybe we all see colors differently. Maybe what in my head is brown, is purple to you. There would be NO way to prove it ever. Again, I once explained that to my mom as a kid and she blew me off saying 'no way.' I mean, i wasnt serious, it was just a 'what if' that popped into my mind that spend too much time thinking of random garbage But someone beat me to it by a long shot

Other friends I have would like to be born at a different time to know about space, or be there for defining moment in history. A friend of mine would kill to have been born hundreds of years ago when much different things were going on in art. Others for music, history....

Anyways, where and when would the ideal you have been born in? And of course why?

I'd tell you some shit, but you'd either laugh, or get mad as it might offend your Catholic side.

I will tell you this though: I see differently via each of my own eyes. Like the I see more blue through one and more yellow through the other. I really notice it looking at grass and switching eyes.

I also know a woman who sees colors as numbers?!?!? I can't even wrap my head around that, but I don't doubt she is telling the truth. She works for Pixar now, so I guess she found a calling for her digital eyesight.

I wish I'd been my age in the 80's. Then my music tastes wouldn't be dated.

Let's see... Personally, I think I would love to have been born in early Renassaince Italy. I think especially in the Flourence/Naples area. The art that was taking place at that time, the culture... just seems like a wonderful time-period to live in.

Everyone makes do with the life they have. If you are wishing to have lived in a different time, realize that you'd be looking through different eyes then than we do now. We know what was history-changing events or great masterpieces now. At the time, who knew?

Michaelangelo was once just a guy painting walls. The gatling gun was once the most horrific weapon ever devised by man. Once people living on one side of the world didn't even know the other side existed, let alone anything that was happening there.

There have been plenty of defining moments in history in my lifetime. I've seen the Berlin Wall come down. I've seen a world superpower dissolve under the weight of it's own goverment. I saw the Challenger explode. I saw the King Riots in LA. I remember the days before the internet. Before compact discs. Before cellphones and PDA's.

And before y'all think it's just because I'm old, we've seen the World Trade Center turned to rubble. We've seen earthquake and flood all but wipe Indonesia off the map. We've seen New Orleans turned into bayou. We've seen London transit come to a standstill. We remember when Mother Theresa wasn't just a saint in a history book.

We found water on Mars and on the moons of Jupiter. We might see the day we set foot on Mars. We may see the end of diabetes. Cancer. AIDS.

History is always being made.

Nice post Wy. And if that doesn't set the stage, just remember the flushing toilet wasn't patented until 1898, so if you go back much before that...

yuck... I like modern plumbing.

If I could choose one era to be in, it would probably be in the 1940's/1950's, they seemed like such simpler times, but then again, it seems easier when I'm bringing in more money in 3 months than some did in a year back then. There seemed to be a much stronger bond within a family and morals were much more prevelant.

are you kidding me? Now's the best time to enjoy them, you don't have to beg mom to buy it, or wait for your birthday or Christmas.
