I can't say enough about the .40 cal models. Much better stopping power than a 9mm, but not quite as cumbersome as a .45 and it will hold more rounds than a .45.

Excellent move.

I was just at Cabela's and the Glocks and Sigs are up around $800.

I have a friend with a FFL and he gets me stuff at 10% over cost plus shipping, but retail pricing is insane on guns these days.

i recall posting a witty comment before the site crashed... something like "What are you doing shooting stuff when you should be cleaning your garage!" (but now i think about it, it's not witty at all... especially with the reply "Thats why i have employees!" )

but after that i asked "Isnt the Glock made of a composite material, and if so is the conversion kit (like the barrel extension) made of similar material or from metal?"

The parts that deal with the concussion of the gunpowder exploding while the bullet is in the chamber is all metal. The springs, firing pin, internal saftey catch are all metal as well as the barrel.
The frame and the slide are the components that are made from a composite.

Sigsauer and a couple of others have produced composite semi-auto handguns.

oh, i thought the Glocks were all composite as i recall a news story years ago about the airport metal detectors not being able to detect them

might have been another gun i guess...

that gun started out as a 9mm when bought to make it a .40cal you just buy a new slide and barrel. to make it a .357sig you just buy the sig barrel and drop it in the .40 slide and now you have a glock that shoots 3 diffrent calibers and can be changed to any of them in under 3 minutes. as for the material its made of the slide and barrel are metal and only the frame is composite

You are right, on the Glocks the slide is metal, I had posted it was composite. That is cool that it can fire all those different calibers with a quick change.

That sounds about right. My buddy gets the Glock 20s and 30s for between 500-600 depending on options like tridium night sights and waterproof floating cases etc...
