Iraqis killed in Mosque??
From our very own newsroom!!
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...MPLATE=DEFAULT
this really burns my ass. If it's true what the Iraqis say, it's bullshit that our troops are doing this. It's one thing for me to walk down the streets in fear, while travelling abroad because of the world's view on our foreign policy, however it's far more dangerous when (if) these dumb ass soldiers think it's ok to trample over whatever the feel like trampling over. My girlfriend (fiancee acutally but I feel strange saying that) is Muslim, and I try to think about how she would feel if American soldiers killed people at her place of worship. I'm not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but that doesn't mean I'm going to pull some of the shit these guys think they can get away with...
On the other hand, it's almost impossible to believe anything that comes from the journalists over there. There sources are extremely unreliable and have no reason to tell the truth. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of these outrageous reports of killings in mosques is fictionalized, meaning the bodies may have been staged there. Then there's the question of whether or not the mosque was actually being used as ONLY a mosque. There have been reports of the bad guys hiding contraband in mosques, such as weapons, bomb making materials, even springing ambushes from mosques, and by the time the news teams arrive, everybody's got there story straight, and it was the American soldiers who came rushing toward the mosque with guns blazing while everyone inside was peacefully trying to worship...what a tragedy . Anyone else have views like this, can our media be trusted on the Iraq issue? It seems like sensationalism when they're reporting.

I wanted to incite emotion with this topic, I'm not anti-Bush and I'm not Pro-Bush, I've come to a point that there is nothing I can do, he was re-elected and that ruined it for me, I don't intend for this to be a Bush-type debate, it's more Media based. Where does the media get off reporting this kind of stuff if it isn't (and I'm reasonably sure it isn't) verified. There seems to be little to no integrity concerning most media outlets.

That is because this does have to do with the Bush Administration which has a great deal of control over the media.

I think it's too little too late, not saying anything about GF, but many foreigners (as far as I know from Turkish people) think it's so easy to get rid of Bush, they don't understand it's nearly impossible, everything involving his administration is so incredibly secretive, that we can't find anything to impeach him on.

Noooo, I dont think it's easy. Sometimes my brain wanders and I get thinking....why has the world done what its done? I mean, we're all under the control of these rich old buggers. Stuff important to our own day to day lives is monitored, information that could effect us is kept secretive...we're at war with people who most dont actually hate or fear....
Bottom line is that maybe somewhere deep within me I'd like to see anarchy work out for the world...I'm not a whole "make love not war" kinda hippy, but I do think about stupid stuff too much

Can someone re-check the link? I don't think it goes to the same story anymore...
The media is built upon dissemination of information in a manner that draws viewers. That hinges both on the personal agendas of everyone who touches a story from camera to editorial floor, as well as the availability of information to the reporters in the field. The quest for the "almighty scoop" has lead many reports to jump the gun in reporting a story that has either turned out to be false or misleading. Even worse is the case of wartime journalism because of the constant battle between editor and field commander as to how much access to information the reporters get.
On one hand, some stories will be written about how terrorists are holing themselves up in Mosques and hospitals, how they fight without honor or sense of regard to civilians or sacred sites. Stories will also be written on the very same events on how the Americans committed reckless and brutal violence in the streets of Iraq, blowing the crap out of Mosques, schools, and a cafe.
As media becomes more and more cluttered with journalists and corporate entities, the less and less they feel the need to act with cold impartiality. Because a list of numbers and dates do not sell magazines. Ethics have gone out the window.
We are no longer a population run by politics. It's corporations. We're hurdling towards the era of blipverts, where all restaurants are Taco Bell.
Maybe. I think people are starting to open their eyes. Republicans are finally starting to say "Hey, wtf? Our guy isn't working for us. He's working for the damn corporations!" That's a baaad sign when your own party feels betrayed.

That is the point I was eluding to earlier. I just wish people had openned their eyes before the last election...
