My doc told me that the nicotine is an appetite supressant and speeds up the
metabolism so he was not suprises. Going in for lab work to make sure
thyroid function is normal. In a small percentage smoking can almst stop the
normal thyroid function.
I was very busy and as our business increases I am on my fat ass more and more
dealing with clients. So I have to make Noodle time a priority to get healthy again.

I hope you can stay off them. I know it is tough.

I think I'm finishing up my last pack from a carton I bought 4 DAYS AGO!!! It's going to be a tough one, but I'm sure I can beat it, I think it's my need to be in control that's going to get me through this, I think the best I've done so far in trying to quit was when i was on anti-depressants, for some reason the Wellbutrin was an instant stop smoking drug, but once I got my life in order, I stopped taking it and about 3 months later started smoking again. so that's my goal.
I work for 5 days, and it'll be my first little milestone, 5 days in the field without a cigarette. then I'll try for a week, then turn it to a month.

I am proud of you man. Don't beat your self up if it does not work. You have an advantage
of not having had the habit as log as I have. That will make the mental part of it
easier a month into it.
Best thing I ever did for me was to quit. The worst I ever did to myself was start.

They actually prescribe Welbutrin for that. It's apparently great for suppressing nicotine as well as boosting endorphin levels. In fact, if you're serious about this and think you might need the help, talk to your doctor about going back on it for a little while. It really will help. I have faith that you can beat the habit without it, though.

That is a good point. I also think they have good luck with ZyBan also.

Not really a "daily" goal now is that?

However, this is a great thing for you and has started a very productive thread.

It will be daily for me. Getting back to a solid diet. Less carbs etc...

Making the time fot at two hours a day at the gym or no less than ten hours a week
until I am back under 200lbs. In my profile pic and the pics at Open Your Eyes I am
at 195. That is where I need to be minimum.

That is what the "whole 9 yards thread" is about. So each day you can post that you are going to work out, etc... and then we are more likely to stick to it if you announce these sorts of things.

I really am rooting for you and wIggy and Snubbs... Smoking is shite and we are all better off without it.

I had some pretty difficult side effects with Wellbutrin. My anxiety was through the roof, and I'd snap at just about anybody who mentioned something I took as insulting, whether it was or it wasnt. Also with my job, it's not possible for me to be on the medication AND do my current job. The Air Force has a program called PRP (Personal Reliability Program) it's for those individuals who work on or around...let's call them special weapons. The guidlines prohibit me from taking any prescription medication without being brought down off of PRP, which is something required to perform the duties I perform. It's a non-punitive action if I get taken down, but as G may know, in a unit where the operations tempo is high, one man down can make a difference, which puts stress on the rest of the unit, and it becomes something to be looked down upon. I'm going to have to do this on my own. I tried the patches once or twice before, but about halfway through my shift, I'd smoke anyway with little adverse reaction. Thanks for the support guys, and as of right now, I'm smoking my last cigarette.
