Default Lost Forever

Very sad day.

Things were looking great. It was time to do the front brakes on the wife's SUV.
Things are going great. I am doing them at a place called Body Crafters because
that is where my race mechanic has moved his shop to. So I meet all the employees
of the shop. I very good painter named Nick walks over and says "Terry(the race mechanic)
tells me you have Steeda prepped Mystic Cobra." I said "yesiree." Nick says "did you
run it up at Road America a lot?" I confirmed that. So Nick asks me did you go to
liquor store in the city on Teutonia Ave." I said "sure did." The owner of the store
was his dad and is a Cobra freak also. His father and I got along very well even
showed our cars at a few shows. I also knew his little brother. So I ask how the
store and his dad is doing. He says we sold it. I asked why. Well when dad died we did not
want to run it anymore. Whoa backup your dad (Dave) died? Nick tells me two years
ago a robbery happened and they shot and killed his dad. I lost it right there
on the spot. Dave was a great guy. Anybody would be proud to have his friendship.
I could not figure out why he stopped calling when we moved and why he was missing the shows.
Now I know. To make things worse they never caught the fuckers that killed him.
Say a prayer for Dave.

Thank you.

I got a chance to talk to his wife who lives just a few miles away now.
She is an amazing woman. She admits there is still a lot of pain, but
she has such optimism for the future. Incredlible.

Sorry to hear that Noodles. I take it the guy was not that old either? No pearls of wisdom can comfort the loved ones and his wife sounds like she has a remarkable resilience.

yup... Few years back when i was tending bar i had a regular customer who was kinda pissed one afternoon and told me he was heading home to get changed for the evening (he lived walking distance from the bar), and he had just gotten a delivery of imported ciggies from a relative, so he was gonna bring me a few packs of Luckys because i said i liked the occasional pack as opposed to my local usual brand...

Anyhow, he never came back that evening, so i assumed he'd gone straight out from his place.

Next day i find out he was attacked on his way back to the bar by a poker buddy of his and stabbed 27 times, dead dead dead...

ya never know.

'06 was an incredibly difficult year for me for reasons I've discussed with nobody, even my closest confidants, even Noodles. Though it's been a constant source of uplifting input from him as always. It was just a rough year, financially, emotionally, personal prioritizationally, etc.

I'm figuring '07 has gotta be better on at least some levels... for instance, I take it as a good omen (or + kharmic chip) that I found m'self bright-eyed and all at work at 9 a.m. on day one of the new year.

"Who was that masked clerk..?"

So happy New Year y'all, hope for good things. World peace for a start.
