Ok, so I may *possibly* have been downloading something that in some places might possibly be against some laws if looked at the wrong way....maybe, i didnt say anything incriminating though, and if you think i did, well I'm calling my lawyer.....aaanyways

So it *may* have been wrong, but I was tired, and lets just say I spend more than my fair share of hard earned moolla on this possibly contraban-ish thingy that will remain unnamed becuase it doesnt matter

Anyways, so a few days later, it finishes, and I am about to watch it... (by the way, it's not prono or anything dirty if you may be wondering) and it's not the download I was looking for...

It was something with Jean-Claude Van Damme (possibly the actor, possibly not, nothing illegal, dont think about it too much ).....under a similar title, mislabled when I downloaded it....I HATE that guy

He makes Canadians look bad, and his accent

Anyways, I was broken (cool) but I started thinking

What I was doing WAS possibly, maybe, just by chance, something that I shouldnt have been doing because it could, possibly maaaybe be causing damage to the economy in some unimportant round about way. So I got what I should have I'd say (and that's all I should get, I learned my lesson)

What do you fellas think about downloading stuff that may possibly be illegal in some state against our knowledge

...just being careful, ya never know

not saying that this is what you were talking about, but I feel that if the people who make music and movies would stop putting out shit and charging an arm and a leg for it, then people wouldn't have started doing this...I don't buy music or movies anymore, it's all downloaded, and if it's good, I'll go buy it, if it sucks I delete it without spending my money on it

Too true

"Expect the kids to pay this expensive fee
When they can get an MP3 from a friends CD
Especially when there's less then three tracks ya like
If it was worth spendin' money then we actually might
So much crap on the mic, labels ain't actin' right"

Sweatshop Union, Broken Records ...it's just sooo true

but it's too late now, they can't expect people to start paying for the product when there are so many alternatives out there for getting it free.

Probably not, but if I were an artist who could actually make money (jazz doesnt count ) I'd be pissed. The copyright laws are obviously weak around the world. However, I geuss all is not lost, iTunes has sold over 1 billion songs! And there really is very very little hype from artists over stopping people from stealing music, at least from what I see on a day to day basis

if they are a touring artist, it's probably one of the best things that could happen to them (pirated music) you can't experience a GOOD live show through download, so if the bands are good, and they tour, then they'll make a killing off of the ticket sales.

Don't delude yourself into thinking that RIAA or MPAA is looking out for "the artists" or anything like that. Not at all.

the RIAA and MPAA are there to look out for the studios that are hit the hardest when they put out crap...so they do it under the illusion of being on the artists' side, when in actuality it's what WY said

The artists may only get a small percentage of the revenue, but there is still something wrong if they can become overnight millionaires with a one hit wonder. Not that I begrudge them it but just trying to even the equilibrium between legal & illegal downloads.

Personally piracy will not be eradicated totally as the w.w.w. is far to big for big brother to monitor.

The studios make most of the money from record sales. Artists money is gained through merchandise and touring mostly. So go with a light consience when downloading. That said I like to own a propper CD rather than have a download it feels better somehow when you play it. So I opperate try before you buy. I've bought too many CD's that have turned out to be crap, so know I download several tracks and see if they are good before I buy a CD.
