Start Your Day
As you mean to go on.
Strange how the human mind plays tricks with us. We tend to feel depressed at work but as soon as your day is over or the weekend is here the smiles of happiness, abound us.
Then it loooms once more knowing work is approching again. Silly cycle I think.
Treat everyday the same & you'll have the balance & presence of mind for all occasions. Everyday is a challenge for new horizons & achievements.
Give a smile & a hello or good morning & it will have a knock on effect with those around us. If people are grumpy or whinge then its understandable other people will avoid them like the plague apart from the amenable ones who are always willing to help.
Courtesy & respect comes from the heart & soul of.....now wouldn't it be nice it it were all around us.....(A mini Utopia I think)
This is not a rant merely an observation.
So how do you start your day?

I wake up at 4:30 AM, march to the chow hall, march back, clean the dorm, shine shoes, work all day, and then go to bed at 11PM. That's been my day for the last 6 1/2 weeks.................ZZZZzzzzzzz

Here is an additive observation for you Sp00k. All depression comes from not living in the now. There is nothing to be sad about or fear at this very moment. We fear what is coming (whether it is or not in our own minds).
So, when everyone gets up Monday Morning (or you equivelant first day of the work week) think only about what you need to be doing at that moment and the rest will follow. Before you know it, Friday is here.
Which is exactly why jedi has been so busy. The military knows full well that if they keep you pre-occupied you will remain focused on the now and when its all over you will not have spent so much time 'worrying' about home and whether you'll graduate and whether you'll go to war and... No time for wondering about that crap. You got shoes to shine and bunks to GI right now.
Good plan the military has.
Excellent post and observation, too my friend. Thanks Sp00k.

Thanks G, I was just trying to find out how everyone gets through their day.
As you said if we can find something to focus on & keep us busy it relieves the tension & flushes the emotional barriers away.
Everyone has a different perspective & outlook on life & I was also trying to find out how people really start their day. Doesn't have to be just about their outlook in society, maybe they could log what is the first thing they do each morning aside from the normal ablutions as we don't need to go there.
Some people get up early & jog...swim etc.
So what is your outlook & how do you start your day?

Ok Spook, here ya go, the first thing I do when I wake up is get out of bed, put one foot in front of the other several times until I get to my bathroom, then I turn the light on, go to the sink, put toothpaste on my toothbrush and move it back and forth over my teeth until I feel I've done a sufficient job, I then, put one foot in front of the other again until I come to my clothes needed for the gym. I take whatever I slept in off, usually by lowering the waistband of the pants over my butt, then I sit down, and remove one leg from the pants....you get the idea.

As you can see I did state the obvious (ablutions) as we all know the bathroom routine.

Aside from the usual cleaning... let's see... I hit snooze on my phone's alarm clock at least once before dragging myself out of bed and getting cleaned up. I check my backpack to make sure I have everything I need, and pack my lunch. Watch the weather channel and dress accordingly, then walk to the bus stop and ride for an hour and a half to get to school.

Damned good post Gman and Spooky
I know damned well you're right...but I've found my own way (dont get mad at me )
I simply just work at being an optomist. I dont worry about what's gunna suck, I think about how good Friday night will be, or how even though Teusday might end up being a long day, I'm going out for lunch with an old friend... It works very well for me personally at least
It got me recognised at my very first job. Even though I was far younger and less experienced than other cooks and chefs, I think it's a fair statement to say that I know I was well loved. How? Because people told me; from bosses to those eventually under me, they enjoyed working with someone that I was always possitive, every morning, and at the end of every day....always! (and if you've worked in a kitchen especially, you know how hard that is to pull off every damned day )
I know the good Gman doesnt believe in dreams, but I do... (young and stuborn he probably thinks )
I have dreams for what I want my life to be, the person I want to be, the family I wan to have, hell...albiet shallow in the eyes of some, the house and car I want I have goals set and written down in a draw right under this keyboard. Therefore, what I'm saying in faaaar too many words is that I cant just live for RIGHT NOW, I plan, think ahead and look forward for what's coming...

Nice Post....
Re-Read what I posted though, buddy. I didn't say to live for Right Now. I said to live in the now... You'll never realize any of you goals if you live them before you get there. That would be like climbing a mountain and not looking at your feet or the ground you are walking on, because you are focused on the Peak. Good way to take a serious fall. You glance up at the peak, when you things are tough you take a moment and envision the peak, but you don't 'focus' on the peak. You focus on climbing.
Optimism, in the sense you are talking about, is simply understanding cycles. Life is up and life is down. When life is up, live it up, but prepare for the fall. When life is down, bear down and focus on what needs to be done and know that it will pick up some time.
Optimism is required for happiness. Absolutely required. Glad you have plenty.

first thing i do i the morning when i wake up is find a reason to get up, not just 'i have to go to work', i find summin that i wanna do that day, be it loafing on the ineternet, making love to tam, walking the dogs, fishing, or just talking it easy.
every day i do this, and it keeps me sane.
i agree with G, if you live in the past(be it good and bad) or you worry about the future you will more thatn likely get depressed. i sleep sound as a rock coz i have no regrets about that day, i find that when i'm stressed and worried about something i cant sleep.
