What is Noodles Doing Up?

I never went to sleep.

I have to keep an eye on the coyotes at dawn. Getting the hunting gear ready.

Hopefully will get a one or two, maybe the one that tried to make a meal out of our cat.

I will be doing this until we start to see rabbit and red foxes again. The coyotes ate
them all up. Several neighbors are pitching in. We have located the dens and it is
best to get them when they are on there way back home. It is illegal to trap them
and relocate them. So I have the shotgun all loaded up. I wish I did not have to
do this, but I have to protect my family and animals. A neighbor already had a dog
killed. The frequency of the attacks and sightings are skyrocketing.

Holy crap that is not good at all. I didn't think for one minute you had an outside problem. I just assumed it was work or a sleepless night.
So you're not allowed to trap them but you can kill them?

The State Dept of Natural Resources is one goofy enforcement agency. The rules
are just crazy.

I am meeting people at the bottom of the property in 15 minutes, so i have to zip.

That's insane that you can kill the poor animals but not move them. The local scientists brought in a bunch of coyotes here a few years back to help control the deer population. The theory was that they'd spread out and everything would go smoothly, with just enough fewer deer that there were less car accidents and crops being destroyed. Yeah... that didn't work out so well. They stayed right where they were dropped, until they had exhausted all the edible wildlife, then moved to the next area and did the same.

So for me... I don't hate the coyotes, because they're only doing what's in their nature to do. I hate the fucking scientists that decided to fuck with nature, though.

Sorry... just a little bitter. Hope everything works out for you, Noodies. Wish you didn't have to kill them, though.

wow thats just a little odd. I think i would have to trap them whether it was illegal or not. Mainly because i really do not like fire arms. Just kinda who I am.

well you have to do what you have to do noodles, that dosn't sound like coyotes

I can however see why they don't want anyone to attempt traping them though. you really have to know what your doing and secondly you can't just simply relocate them for multiple reasons. there's already a reason that BLM or NFS makes all these rules.

We called it off due to fog. I am just sick about having to do it.

They are showing up in daylight now. They are not intimidated by people. Their pattern
of behavior is not typical of truly wild coyotes. There have been several showdowns
where the coyote only flees after being chased by by a person with a rake or a bat.
It is just a matter of time before a child gets malled or worse. Coyotes are known
to be one the smartest of all canine species and I have witnessed it. My wife
reminded me that it was coyotes that wiped out our chickens 3 years ago so we
have lost animals to these crafty predators. The whole county is so infested with
them that they are not moving. They are all sticking put in their original territory.
That is probably why they are getting so bold as food runs out and winter sets in.

They are big at 45-60 lbs.

I found out that there is a trapping program and it requires very expensive traps and a license.
The trappers just kill them for the hides. Anyway one of the guys hunts them year round
and has offered to do it with out my involvement. I told him have at it, I just don't
want to be out there shooting them myself.

As far as guns go, there is no way to live in the country without one. I am not a gun
nut, but I do like target shooting.

yeah, the only gun i will ever own will be connected to a cored and the connected to a time crises machine.

I might get a bow, or something along those lines.
