Why cant we just call it like it is???

I'm not even too old, and I'm tired of names for poor and wealthy countries changing!

Once there was Large, Medium and Small world powers... then came the atomic bomb and they created "Super" power as a title

In no order that I'd ever know the terms change from these 'powers' to 'first, second and third' world countries.... not to mention that people are apparently starting to use the term 'fourth' world countries. Not too long ago, we were supposed to call them Developed and Developing countries. We had industrialised and non-industrialised, and apparently some are "Newly Industrialized." Sometimes you'll still here about the New World and the Old World. There's also the Developed Market and the Developing market. But apparently, the o-so-wise department of Geography at univ here is calling them (based on the World System theory... some Marxist stuff apparently) core, semi-peripheral, and peripheral regions

Is anyone else being driven mad by this? I'd understand it more if I understood there was a difference in all of these meanings, but a lot of them are the same damn groups of countries.

Anywho....

(On a random side note that's kinda funny cus it has to do with labels and mountains.... I went for a jog with a gal originally from the praries who knows Victoria really well and she said we'd go up a mountain! Well I was stoked cus I didnt know there were any mountains within jogging distance

Well it turned out to be nothing more than a 15 minute jog up a road zig zagging back and forth up a hill to a Hele-pad. Silly prarie girls.............nevermind)

It's possible... but that's still aweful confusing, and with terms like "3rd, 2nd and 1st World"... they've simply become wrong, as apposed to outdated or available for making sentenses flow together better.

I don't pay attention to those labels cause well many reasons, but don't those label mix like one place can be some of those "labels" and a simular place be none. and nothings really perminat
