Default Writer's Strike

If anyone is curious....

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the Directors Guild of America (DGA) forged an agreement which allows industry creative talent to participate financially in all areas of new media. The AMPTP in a statement said, "We hope that this agreement with DGA will signal the beginning of the end of this extremely difficult period for our industry. Today, we invite the Writers Guild of America to engage with us in a series of informal discussions similar to the productive process that led us to a deal with the DGA to determine whether there is a reasonable basis for returning to formal bargaining. We look forward to these discussions, and to the day when our entire industry gets back to work."

The WGA said it would carefully review the AMPTP/DGA deal along with its Negotiating Committee, WGAW Board of Directors and WGAE Council. Furthermore, the WGA issued the following response: "For over a month, we have been urging the conglomerates to return to the table and bargain in good faith. They have chosen to negotiate with the DGA instead. Now that those negotiations are completed, the AMPTP must return to the process of bargaining with the WGA. We hope that the DGA's tentative agreement will be a step forward in our effort to negotiate an agreement that is in the best interests of all writers."

Ugh...this strike even if it ends soon is going to really eff with our favorite shows....

(I debated on whether to put this thread here or in TV...if this is wrong area, sorry!!!!)

this strike is making all late night talk shows mind numbingly unbearable to watch. It's almost embarassing for the hosts.

NO doubt!!! and not just the joke....no one will cross the picket line so the guest line up sucks. Maybe they will be able to compromise soon. If they don't I suggest you buy stock in Blockbuster or Netflix..because there sure as hell won't be anything to watch on TV.
Thank you NM

People are making deals back and forth for certain shows...but not the ones I'm interested in.

I've said before I work on an award show in LA every year..as of now the show is still on...but it's seriously in jeopardy. The whole staff of the event had to be laid off as a result of the strike and now they are scrambling for a new place.
