WITCHES' FLYING MIX
This fun mix takes only five minutes to prepare, looks great on the
table, and taste terrific. Witches' flying mix was especially designed
for working moms or guardians whose schedules are jammed and who can't
make something for the school party, or for the mother who, at 10:00
P.M., learns from her third-grader that she's expected to provide a
snack for tomorrow's Halloween party.
1 cup popcorn (or Cracker Jack's)
1/2 cup candy corn
1/2 cup small marshmallows
1/2 cup black jelly beans
Mix all ingredients together in a colorful bowl. Makes 8 servings

CHILDREN'S WITCH'S BREW
1 (10 ounce) package frozen raspberries, thawed
2 1/2 cups cranberry juice
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 liters ginger ale
2 liters sparkling apple cider (non-alcoholic)
6 gummi snakes candy
1. To make the frozen hand: Wash and rinse the outside of a latex
dish-washing glove. Turn glove inside out and set aside.
In a 4 cup measuring cup, combine the thawed raspberries and cranberry
juice.
2. Pour 2 cups of the raspberry mixture into a small saucepan.
Sprinkle the gelatin over and let stand 2 minutes. Warm over
low heat, stirring constantly, just until gelatin dissolves. Mix back
into the reserved raspberry mixture in the measuring cup.
3. Pour raspberry mixture into the inverted glove. Gather up the top
of the glove and tie securely with kitchen twine. Freeze until solid,
or several days if possible.
4. To serve: Carefully cut latex glove away from frozen hand. Place
frozen hand, palm side up, leaning against side of a large
punch bowl. Pour in ginger ale and sparkling cider. Garnish with
gummy snakes.

Roll-Out Cookie Dough
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 TSP baking powder
1 TSP Vanilla extract
3 cups flour
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat in egg
and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour one cup at a time, mixing after
each addition. The dough will be very stiff; blend last flour in by hand. Do
not chill dough.
Note: Dough can be tinted with icing color. Add small amounts until desired
color is reached. For chocolate cookies, stir in 3 ounces melted,
unsweetened chocolate. (If dough becomes too stiff, add water, one TSP at a time.)
Divide dough into 2 balls. On a floured surface or cookie sheet roll each
ball into a circle, approximately 12 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick.
Use cutters as a guide; dough should only be slightly thinner than cutter.
Dip cutters in flour before each use. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet
on middle rack of over for 6 or 7 minutes, or until cookies are lightly
browned.

Haunted Forest Platter
This imaginative forest is completely edible.
3 stalks of broccoli
3 medium beets
Wood toothpicks
3 hard-boiled eggs
Assorted vegetables such as cherry tomatoes, pea pods, kohlrabies,
radishes, sweet red peppers, sweet yellow peppers, and shredded
carrot, Ripe olives, pimiento-stuffed olives, and/or tiny sweet
pickles
1 ounce spaghetti, cooked and drained
Liquid green food coloring
1. To make a haunted forest, first create trees.
2. Cut bottoms from stalks of broccoli to make 6-inch broccoli
trees.
3. Slice beets about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick to make a base for
broccoli trees. Break wood toothpicks in half. Insert three to four
toothpick pieces into bottom of each broccoli stalk and then insert
into a beet slice. Stand broccoli upright. Cover to keep moist.
4. To make egg ghosts, use a small knife or 1/2-inch aspic cutters
to hollow out eyes and mouths to form a face. Cut small pieces of
ripe olive to press into hollowed-out areas for eyes or mouth, if
desired. Cover to keep moist.
5. Using your imagination, create creepy creatures with tomatoes,
sweet peppers, pickles, olives, and radishes.
6. Place broccoli trees on serving platter. Cover surface of platter
with shredded carrot. Hide egg ghosts in forest along with creepy
creatures. Scatter piles of vegetables such as pea pods, beet
slices, kohlrabi slices, olives, pickles, and/or any other desired
vegetables. Add strips of red pepper to the broccoli branches.
7. To make moss, add a few drops of green food coloring to a small
amount of water in a medium bowl. Add cooked spaghetti and let stand
about 5 minutes. Drain and place over broccoli trees. Keep platter
covered until serving time. If necessary, spritz platter with water
to keep it moist.

BLOODY BUG JUICE
24 oz Frozen strawberries -- thawed
6 oz Lemonade, frozen concentrate
1 qt Ginger ale
1 c Raisins
1 c Blueberries -- fresh or frozen
Recipe by: Creepy Cuisine, Lucy Munroe
Place the strawberries in a bowl and mash with a
fork. In a large pitcher, mix the strawberry mash,
lemonade and ginger ale. Place handfuls of raisins and
blueberries (bugs) into tall glasses. Pour the liquid
over the bugs, then sit back and watch the bugs and
scum rise to the top of each glass. To quench a
creepy crowd's thirst, double or triple this recipe
and serve in a punch bowl. Drape some gummy worms
over the rim of your bowl for a particularly
swampy-looking effect!
