Before you set out into the forum, I would like to share one story that sticks with me day by day. I do not remember where I read it, but it has guided me many times. I am only disappointed by anything when I forget about this story.




How do you know?

There was once an aging Rancher and his son living far from any large cities in China.

One night there was a ferocious thunderstorm and when the Rancher awoke he found that lightning had struck his coral and that his prize stallion had fled. When in the village picking up some supplies to repair the coral, many of the local citizens expressed their sympathy over the Rancher losing his stallion and his major source of income for the year. However, every time someone mention how tragic it was, the Rancher simply replied:

How do you know?



While at home repairing the coral his Stallion returned on its own, bringing with it several mares from the wild. The Rancher was easily able to trap the horses. Later, many of the villagers came to see his newfound fortune. Each time a villager commented on his fortune, the Rancher simply replied:

How do you know?


Two weeks later the Rancher's son broke his leg while trying to tame one of the mares. As the Rancher led his son on a horse to the village physician's hut, many people commented on the tragedy, only to turn in disgust as the Rancher said to them:

How do you know?


While in the physician's hut, a messenger from the Emperor arrived in the village and made an announcement. Every able bodied young male would conscripted to fight the Mongol's ....
