Ok... Im an old soul. I take a lotta flack from my friends for it, but I hate 90% of music being released in recent years

Classic rock as most of what I listen to, aside from jazz, and some random stuff

These days there are MANY 'indie' bands... less famous bands that fly under the radar of MTV and such.

So here's my thinking... there was the same deal back in the day. Bands that may have disapeared from what is easy to find for today's classic rock lovers

Im from Vancouver, so I know a lot of the good local, less famous bands like Chilliwack, Lover Boy, 54 40 and Trooper

Of course I love the big bands of the time

Beatles
Rolling Stones
Queen
The Who
The Guess Who
Floyd
Eagles
Greatful Dead
CCR
BTO
Fleetwood Mac
ACDC
Boston
Cream
Aerosmith
Genesis
ZZ Top
Journey
Allman bros
Traffic
Moody Blues
Foreigner
Kinks
The Clash
Crosby
Stills
Nash
Young
Steve Miller Band
Kiss
Yes
Chicago
Doobie bros
Police
Skynyrd
Sabbath
Hendrix
Elton John
Paul McCartney and the wings
sly and the family stone

Need I continue? I love 'em all

So

Can you guys gimmie some small, lesser known bands that a kid from the late 80's wouldnt know Maybe some hometown heroes that never made it to the international, woodstock size stage?

Ill rep ya for your time, this is important to me Some people LOVE music, others dont care... there are few who are inbetween, so weve gotta have some lovers And Spooky... if you read this, the British Invasion was perhaps the best thing that happened to rock and roll... what never made it over that we missed out on?!?!?!?

Great thread!

I love just about every band you wrote down. Can you add Led Zepplin?

As for smaller bands, I was a huge alternative lover...do those count for your list?

Just on this note...this list made me think of how when I was in Cuba... the Cubans loved this music from the 70's. They even could sing it -- in English -- even when they didn't know English. It was so funny to hear 70's classic rock being sung all the way down the street. =) Good music...

What about Jefferson Airplane?

Also one of my top favorite bands. Volunteers and White Rabbit have both been played on my iTunes almost 50 times each this year
