Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, "300" is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller's (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.

Looks very interesting. I may have to pick up the Graphic Novel first though.

As I recall, this is the story that Algren tells of before their big battle in The Last Samuraii.

I thought I'd heard it referenced somewhere before..... And I aint got The Last Samurai on dvd to cross check it on

Like you G I've not read the graphic novel but am gonna get it as I think it looks fantastic

Its also the story Dwight tells before they kill Manute in Sin City (I'm not sure it made it to the film though, might only be in the book)

I'm not sure sin city 2 is gonna be based on the books. I'd heard Frank Miller was writing a new story for it. (Though I may be wrong)

i'm pretty sure it's based on the books. all i really know is the second movie tells the stories of marv and dwight before the hard goodbye and ending of yellow bastard which should be in the other novels dealing with dwights link to ava lord and it should explain how manute lost his eye because of that. i guess that nacy's charicter is going to plan revenge on the roarks but i don't know of any of that
