Default Sci-Fi Technology

We all know that technology is advancing at such speeds that it is hard to keep up. Just think of where we are today.
William Shatner has even written a book (the exact name eludes me) but it is about how technology has been influenced by Star Trek....ever notice the resemblence to things such as Blue Tooth technology to some of the things that were only "dreamed" of by Gene Rodenberry.
That being said, what imagined technology are you holding your breath for. Since Sci-Fi touches many different mediums of Entertainment, take your inspiration from any of the (books, TV, movie)

I'll start it off...
As a mom I can't wait for the day I can walk in my kitchen and just like on Star Trek be able to say what Wise, the kids or I want to eat or drink and it just appear. Heaven!

the whole concept of "lasers" is one sci fi thing that has really advanced. back in the seventies if i told you that i would today be able to sim a laser in your eye and "correct" you vision you might think im somewhat crazy. and maybe we don't literally have death rays , but we do use them in battle similar to the laser tag you can play at home , the milatary has training sessions which are huge laser tag games

maybe the kitchen won't make the food for you, but kitchen can no almost clean themself do to a various things including robotics

Like Rhia, I think that replicators would be awesome... but not just for food... those damned things can reproduce nearly anything!

Aside from that, I'd have to say that I have two favorites that I think would be awesome: holograms/holodecks (interactive video games! ) and teleporters. The former would just be cool as hell and would excite the little gamer girl inside of me to no end, and the latter would make living long distance from my Love far more tollerable!

Aww-the holodeck-man I forgot all about that. That was too cool. And I think teleportation would be a nice alternative to flying
