Sorry haven't been about in a while...lots of stuff going on between remodeling the house, the holidays and of couse trouble with the kids...
Been an even longer time since I attempted any poetry but I wrote this the other night (the joys of having teenagers LOL) and thought I would share.
A Mother's Hand.
I look in your eyes, who do I see?
Myself, so young, looking back at me.
My hopes, my fears--same sorrows, same fears.
You think I just don't understand
Oh, but if you only knew
You'd take my outstretched hand.
Once you trusted where I led
You never doubted, just said "yes ma'am".
When did I ever let you fall
That now you don't trust the hand at all?
The path you're on I've tread before
But my outstretched hand is ignored.
The path is long, you need a guide
Know I will always be by your side.
I cannot make you accept what's offered--
Wisdom earned from trials and sorrow.
My love for you is never ending
The hand will always remain extended.
