Was given the box set for Crimbo and, with only 2 episodes left I'm loving it.

With the collaberation between Hanks and Spielberg they have delivered a wonderfully accurate portrail of the sacrifice and commitment that the 101st Air Born gave to the war, the style is very much on par with Saving Private Ryan with some excellent acting from the cast who were picked not just for the acting ability but for the resemblance to the real life soldiers they are portraying.

If you haven't seen this yet I'd reccomend buying it, especially if you like Saving Private Ryan and you can get it quite cheap now

Band of Brothers is arguably the best WW2 movie made, I only say arguably because Saving Private Ryan was so good too!!

I watched the series on HBO here in the states.

Hard to believe it was made for TV because the production values and budget were so
high.
It was Tom Hanks ambition to bring this to life and Spielberg backed him all the way.
I have to agree that the result really comes in as one of the top WW2 pieces ever put
to film.

I've owned BoB for some time. Of course, I wouldn't have dropped that kind of money on something I didn't already love.

@ Sparky - I have to ask you though, how you know it is so accurate? Not saying it isn't or that you are wrong. I just nearly always question people when they say something is or is not the way it is/was...

On the short side - Excellent and if you haven't seen it, then you don't know what your missing. I may have to pop it back in again soon.

G, personally I wouldn't know if it is 100% accurate, I just go off the information I find about films and tv shows, the reason I believe it to be very accurate was from this piece of trivia from imdb.com

Quoting:
Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and Stephen Ambrose showed each of the scripts around to real-life soldiers of Easy Company to guarantee authenticity.

And G, it's a perfect question to ask someone, always like a challenging question

Cheers

Wait til you watch the additional material. Good Stuff....

I have heard nothing to think that it isn't very accurate. Which actually messed with me head a tad, as I was once a soldier and even put in for transfer to 82nd Airborne (the All American) and 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles Air Assault Division now) right after Sadam invaded Kuwait.

Amazing what they put up with and how they lose a bit of their humanity by the end....

GREAT Stuff and great reply Sparky.

Give me to Monday and I will have watched the last two episodes (can't at the mo as I left it at my flat and am at my parents) and will watch the special features.

So far, one of my favourite ones is The Battle Of The Bulge where it focuses on the Medic, for some reason that one just seemed to stand out.

sp00k, the whole set in a lovely metal tin (it's real nice) is £24.99 from a few places online, look here and you can choose which supplier to get it from http://www.find-dvd.co.uk

Ok, wow, watched it all and watching it again (can't get over the Episode 6, Bastogne).

The extras are good on the set, especially the video diary by Ron Livingston detailling the training they did with Capt. Dale Dye (cracking part near the end with one of the actors impersonating him during the group photo)

I loved it. This was the best Christmas gift I received a couple of years ago. I watch a couple of episodes every week. I hope HBO does another miniseries like this. LOVE IT.

Ladies and gents... I hope you're all ready for The Pacific...

The duo are teaming up again to follow stories from another theater of WWII.

We've still got over a year to wait, but Im excited.
