Default Miami Ink last night...

On last night's episode of Miami Ink, there was a guy who came in to get the Buddhist Endless Knot symbol on his back. It was a cool tattoo, but here's the weird part. He claimed to be a practicing Buddhist for over a year and he's in law school!! Those two don't go together, do they? Ami said he be a broke lawyer!! Not trying to offend anyone, it just seemed unusual. THoughts?

also, there was a kid whose girl friend was killed in the Virginia Tech shootings getting a tattoo of one of the gf's orginal drawings. It was pretty cool.

the only thing I don't like about the Tattoo shows is that nobody goes in just to get a tattoo it's always "this tattoo really means alot to me because blah blah blah" none of my tattoos have some deep spiritual meaning, I got them because I like them. The tattoos remind me of a point in my life, they don't signify anything, they are a reminder of what I was doing at that time, they tell ME a story that I may have forgotten. I don't have any tattoos that are dedicated to someone or something, I think it's a bit overplayed.

I totally agree about the tats. Too played out. I love my tattoos only because I have my kids names tattooed on my upper arm in Japanese hirgana. They form a band around my arm. Just personal, not spirtual or a healing method!!!

I want a tattoo but for me personally when I do go for it , it is going to have to be something that has meaning to me something I can live with for the rest of my life . I think maybe it is that way for alot of people and the show seems to focus on the ones that do have meaning or are dedicated to someone/something . Thats why I like the show but that is just my opinion .

My tattoo has no deep spiritual meaning either. It's a mark of my life at 23.

I do like the shows though.

I have to correct my last statement about tattoos, I have ONE that has a bit of a personal meaning, and I got it for a specific reason. My little brother and I went and got tattoos (different ones from each other) About 2 weeks later, he died in a car accident, so my older brother and I went and got the tattoo he got when he and I went together, not sure what the reasoning was, but it seemed like a good idea. Other than that I have 6 others that match my original reasoning, so I think it's evened out

Wiggy,

That's a good reason. Memorial tattoos are awesome.
