It is basically a partial autobiography of a man who seeks so hard for 'the truth' that he snaps and becomes skitzo... Then the two parts of him struggle for control of his life.

The Onion Girl by Charles DeLint
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
Broken Girl by Stephan Kallos
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Veronika Choose to Die by Paulo Coelho
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I think I could keep going for a long time. I love to revisit books and the characters within them.

Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, num your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic." I agree. Have you read any of his other stuff? I just finished The Witch of Portabello ... it was a good read as well.

It may be dry but you will get something from it. All of Shakespeare, sonnets and prose included.
All of Poe's work.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Walter Scott, Anthony Trollope, William Thackery, Thomas hardy to name a few of the English ones.
