Default Add on lens

Was posting with G when he mentioned he was thinking about buying a add on telephoto lens and I thought I would post my experience with them.

An add on is a lens that screws on the end of a existing fixed lens camara like a couple of us are using. I saw those last christmas and ordered a telephoto and a wide angle for me and went out and took a bunch of pictures and come home and unloaded the pics to the computer and soon learned what the term ''vegatating'' means.

when you look at this pic look at the edges of the photograph and you will see that the edges look like they are out of foucus, you can see it good if you look at the passenger side headlight and compare it with the driver side headlight

on this pic look at the tree limbs in the right top corner

and look at the bird in lower left corner compared to the others

since then I have studied them like i should have to start with and learned that not all are created equaly. They make good ones but I personally want buy another one without putting it on my camara and taking a few pics so beware of what you see online unless you have looked at it and maybe read a few reveiws

ahh... interesting.

I can't seem to find ANY in town for this camera and all of them I find online are the same makes, both for the 3x telephoto and the .45 Macro.

I'll have to look at reviews...

*back from reviews*

Couldn't find anything on the Tokina for S3's specifically, but Tokina seems to get rave reviews in general...

It would have been a toy more than a need, so I suppose having read your post and some other reviews I might just skip it for now.

Cheers Wise!!

I'll likely just wait. I got a list of things that want my money anyway. Maybe sometime next year after I've figured more of the camera out, I'll take a chance. I get 12x out of this one anyway, which is good enough.

Right now I want a tri-pod for some night shots.

Sometimes it can be a simple thing like "shooting distance" and "depth of field" but wise is right about quality of lenses. Sokmetimes you might think you getting a bargain buying the lens. Experience may let you come to a compromise only if you know of good reviews unless of course you got the megabucks to go for gold and buy top brands.
