very nice camara......
Is that just a compliment, or also your opinion. I was literally a bit sick as I spent way more than really had to waste, but this seems a VERY nice camera for the money and will do what I need for video.

I am pretty happy so far.

It is a very good choice. Canon's color balance is second to none.

I get pit passes for IRL and CART races. Over the last 20 years I have seen the Nikon name get run over by Canon. The sports photographers swear by the color and the Canon's blazing fast focusing system.

It does focus fast and the Zoom was waaaaaay faster than my Kodak. Spent more than I really could afford right now, but figure I'd be happier in the long run.

Zooms fast in video mode too, so I don't really need a vidcam either then.

I got my fingers crossed I'll be happy with this choice. I really don't feel like learning my way around another camera right now either, but what are you gonna do? I should have thought about that before I dropped the other one, eh?

Well the bananas are safe.

I am not sure if you knew this but Kodak has Canon do a lot of stuff for them in the digital camera world. There are a couple of crossover models where the only difference is the printer dock and the name on the camera.
Of course Canon keeps the latest and greatest goodies for their line.

The Canons are also very easy to learn. They really have some great intuitive software onboard.

Looks that way. I am not liking the viewfinder though. The LCD is great, but the viewfinder...

Otherwise, it looks like a very adaptable camera.

*** edit - just found a little focus knob for the viewfinder.

Indeed that is a very nice camera. I'm guessing you also picked it because of the storage? (SD card).

I'm still experimenting with mine at the moment. So many new fangled buttons to get used to. I could cheat and just use "auto" but that takes all the fun out of photography in my view.

Yes. SD was a requirement.

That means a lot coming from someone who actually has a clue.

Fiddled with it today. Will post some pictures later.
