3 Years of HS JROTC. Attended JROTC Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri July/August 1983. 4 weeks of hell in the heat of the Ozarks.

3 years in the 100th Bn/442nd Infantry Division (1986-1989) as a Machine Gunner and Sniper. Bore the distinbction of being only the 2nd soldier EVER to qualify sniper with the M-60 as of separation of terms of service, August 1991. Of all the accomplishments I did in the military, earning my Infantry Cord is still the most significant to me.

During stint at 100th Bn attended Leeward Community College and did 2 years in ROTC program.

Served from June 1989 through October 1989 at Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA.

Followed by a stint at the Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Analysis School, October 1989 through May 1990 at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX.
During this time, still being the good Infantryman I was, I (and a very good friend) petitioned to leave the school to join our brothers in arms in Operation Just Cause. We failed in this petition as apparently we were National Security Assets.

Next up a posting, May 1990 through August 1991, with the 732nd MIBn/703rd MIBde at Field Station Kunia, Schofield Barracks, HI working for one of the letter agencies. I'll let you guess which one.
During which I successfully petitioned (again with the petitioning) to go to Operation Desert hield/Storm. I was supposed to attach to the 82nd Infantry Division, but the war ended before I could even depart my base. Only one of the group of us who petitioned actually made it to Riyadh and linked up with the 513th MI there. Our poor 2LT (a former 13 year Cannon Cocker) flew all the way from Honolulu to Savannah, GA and the war ended while he was actually boarding the transport. Several others of us were supposed to go but again the war ended before they even had their orders. They too were going to attach to the 513th.
In May 1991 I witnessed the single most significant change to the C3 structure of one of our major adversaries in the previous 50 years. While I had more than ample supporting evidence to back up this claim it took 10 years for the target to repeat the action. In May 2001, after verification and comparrison to the 1991 data, I was finally credited with the 1991 catch.
I separated from the Army August 28, 1991 largely because I was pissed off. I will delve into that more in another post.
